database creation

hi guys, i built a student registration program for a school, i'm a beginner in visual basic 6.0, but i need a database for the program, how do i go about doing it, must i have microsoft access on the system to do these, i'm confused, i need someone to help me pls. you can send help via this medium or email me at oyebola.olowoyeye@stanbic.com

you can use MS Access and MYSQL as database..
